We Value Education
The Service Dog Society is dedicated to the education of service dog handlers, their friends and family, service dog trainers and programs, puppy raisers, businesses, the general public, and anybody else who has questions.
We’ve made it our mission to keep our information as up-to-date and all-encompassing as possible and we’re adding more all the time.
We Provide Support
We know how overwhelming the Service Dog journey can be. The Service Dog Society wants to make sure that you have the help and community support that you need to be successful.
Learn from the experience of others. Read through our Frequently Asked Questions. Join our community forums (coming soon!). If you still can’t find what you need, we are always available by email.
We’ve Learned From Experience
We know first hand the struggles and joys of being a part of a Service Dog Team. Our team has put in the hard work of training dogs from scratch and reaped the benefits on the other side.
On the other hand, we’ve experienced the heartache of dogs that haven’t made the cut. We’ve been caught in access disputes, felt what it’s like to tell family about our Service Dog for the first time and everything in between.
We hope that you can learn from our successes and failures, and feel free to share your own!
Our Goal is Freedom and Independence
Service Dogs change lives everyday for countless disabled individuals. They do everything from leading the blind, to alerting to migraines, to pulling a wheelchair or fetching lifesaving medication.
Service Dogs can provide freedom and independence to people that might not otherwise be possible. But that isn’t automatic. In order for a Service Dog to be able to do his/her job effectively, it takes a village.
We hope to bring together the handlers, trainers, families, businesses and communities that surround these dogs so that the process can be smooth for everyone.
